The working principle of Electrodeionization technology is to achieve deep purification and desalination of water by combining electrodialysis and ion exchange resin technology. The specific process includes the following steps:
Electrodialysis process: Under the action of an external electric field, cations in the water migrate to the negative electrode and pass through the positive membrane, and anions migrate to the positive electrode and pass through the negative membrane. In this way, the water in the dilute chamber gradually reduces the number of ions and becomes fresh water; while the ion concentration in the concentrated chamber gradually increases to form concentrated water.
Ion exchange process: The impurity ions in the water are exchanged and combined with the impurity ions in the water through ion exchange resin, so as to achieve the effect of removing ions from the water.
Electrochemical regeneration process: The hydrogen ions (H⁺) and hydroxide ions (OH⁻) generated by the polarization of water at the interface of the ion exchange resin are used to electrochemically regenerate the resin to achieve self-regeneration of the resin.
The advantages of EDI technology include:
High efficiency and stability: It can continuously and stably remove ions in water without frequent replacement of resin or cleaning, which improves the operating efficiency of the equipment.
Environmental protection and energy saving: Compared with traditional ion exchange technology, EDI technology does not require the use of regeneration agents, avoiding possible environmental pollution during the regeneration process. At the same time, its efficient deionization performance can significantly reduce the operating cost of the equipment.
Strong adaptability: The water quality requirements for raw water are low, even water with high hardness can be effectively treated, and it has strong anti-pollution ability.
EDI technology has a wide range of applications, mainly including semiconductors, electronics, pharmaceuticals and other fields, which have very strict requirements for ultrapure water.
